i am about to use norton ghost 2003 to replicate the PATA hard drive to SATA hard drive...i use bootable win 98SE cd to go to DOS prompt and insert the cd with the norton ghost 2003...but when i enter the ghost2k3 in the DOS prompt it will start the norton ghost but it will not continue to start, the computer hangs...is it that the norton ghost2k3 is not compatible with the SATA hard drive?coz in PATA hard drives, it works well...thanks

First you may want a Welcome to the Computer Forum! http://www.computerforum.com/70672-official-welcome-thread.html and the usual reminder to new members to review the http://www.computerforum.com/52038-forum-rules.html

When cloning any drive the disk images created will only work on identical drives to begin with. For cloning Windows and softwares installed a new mbr and installation is what actually works. 98SE being an old OS will need sata drivers loaded and installed just to be able to use a newer sata drive.

You also have to have the sata controllers on the board enabled with that drive moved to the top of the list of hard drives installed in the hardware configuration section of the bios if present. The boot order of cd rom 2nd hard drive 1st won't be enough to see the sata as the primary boot device.
