ok so heres my problem i bought a new 500 gig sata hard drive and it seems that my computer is not compatible with it so i need to buy a SATA PCI card to make it so but none of these cards will fit in my computer they all seem to be backwards! and i have no idea what to do any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated thanks

First you may want to give some description of the problems seen when trying to get it running along with the make and model drive. Even a Sata 1 drive will run on a standard sata port on many boards. I just saw XP go onto a WD 200gb Sata 1 model on a 939 board about a week ago. If your board lacks any sata ports you would then have need for an expansion card.

ok well its a 2003 computer cicero i bought teh drive to replace teh meager 70 i had the mother board has no sata slots so thats why i need to buy the expansion but all the slots for where it needs to plug in are facing the wrong direction

Did you buy an E-SATA PCI Card, which would be for External connections? Please post the PCI card you bought.

knox124 is trying to find one that will work due to the problems with the older style and type case there. The make and model of that system could be useful in finding some adapter you can use since that is likely proprietary only type cards for use.

The newer prebuilt atx style cases at this time allow for using 3rd party expansion cards while the slots on the system are older branded type. The old Dell systems for example saw a different bolt pattern forcing owners to buy replacement power supplies through them alone rather then being able to simply go out and buy any at later atx type model.
