SATA hard drives

I am very new to sata hard drives and am completely lost so any info would be great.
I got a sata hard drive off a friend (500gb) but have no sata connections. My uncle told me i can get a card? or something to allow me to connect it. I've searched the internet but found nothing to support this. Is this true and if so what would i be looking for,
Eternally gratefull for any response,
Cian

Yes, you can get SATA PCI Cards assuming you have a spare PCI slot in your computer.

I noticed you are from Ireland (I'm from the North myself - Belfast!), Here's a link to some SATA cards :

The very bottom one is what you are after ;) Just find a popular retailer, and on their website search "PCI SATA" and you should get a lot of results :)

thanks a million,
but im confused, how do you connect it this hard drive to this, it looks like the connection is outside of the computer. can you bring the cable around to inside the chassis,
cheers

ps i'll owe u a scoop next time im up north ;)

There's an internal connection in them too ;) There is both an internal and an external connection in the card.
