I've been trying to get my 120gig Seagate SATA 2 Hard Drive working for the last few days now. I still havent been able to get BIOS reconize it but im wondering if i need to download something so I can detect it on my computer. My board is definatly compatible with SATA and the leads are all working. Leave a link or some feedback below. Please someone respond ASAP :)

Looks like SATA is some kind of "wrong technology".
Teh_Gamerer - check if the HDD spins.
Just... touch it while having PC ON.
If it doesn't - look for better Power Supply Unit (PSU).
I've got the same problem and I think it's because my HDD have got lack of power...
Answer please and tell Us what you've done with your HDD.

You guys SHOULD NOT be giving advise if you dont know whats going on.

For a SATA HD make sure
-you have the corresponding port in Bios enabled
-The SATA driver installed (required)
{To install driver boot to win cd, and press f6 when it says "to load raid driver press f6 now" Yes, just do it.}
-Format and partition your drive.

Depends on your motherboard. Some older boards cant recognize SATA2, therfore a jumper needs to be set to tell your SATA2 drive to work as SATA. It should be in your manual somewhere.

Use the win98 boot disk from the website.
Make sure you load the SATA drivers (f6)

and load the boot disk.
at the a:/ type
c:/fdisk
folow the prompt to partition the disk.

Restart PC, and at the A:/ type format c:/

there is a jumper setting on a sata drive if the hdd is sata2, try moving the jumper to sata 1 then see if it is recognized

Not all the time, there isn't one on my drive. I spent ages looking for it because my motherboard is only SATA1.

A BIOS flash might be required here. What motherboard do you have? Also, try the drive in someone elses pc to make usre the drive isn't at fault
