Well i just checked out the specs of the Gigabyte GA-965G-DS4 motherboard, which i am planning to buy along with a E6400 Core 2 duo. now i wanna know whether i can attach my 80 gb IDE drive along with my Sata drive???? one more thing, what is better :

1)a combo drive & a DVD+-RW
2)a normal CD rom & a DVD+-RW

Certain motherboards might have some quirks, but generally you will be able to use both SATA and PATA (IDE) drives.

Yeah most mobo's have the option for both. soon enough sadly they will rid of IDE but not for awhile since it is still the "standard"

You could also buy an IDE-to-SATA bridge, plut it into the CD drive, and then run the drive to a sata connector on the board. Then, no more ide cables hanging around. :)
