sata or not

hi i have amotherboard that supports 1sata11 hdd and 2sata hdd i can only find 120gb sats hdd so i dont know wetyer to buy 2 of them and have a raid or to buy 1 400gb sata11 hdd or wether i can use sata11 drives on the sata headers on the motherboard please help
 
Let me get this right:

Your mobo has one SATAII port, and 2 SATA ports. You sure they arnt all SATAII?

If thats so, then I would get two SATA HDDs in RAID.

Ive been told that SATAII doesnt run at the rated speed, But i dont know why. (I have a SATAII mobo & HDD)
 
you can use sata2 drives on a sata mobos or sata drives on sata2 mobos, it's backwards compatible, but the most cost efficient size about now is probably 250gb
