Sata question

Hi all,

my friend is selling a 80Gb Maxtor 7200Rpm Sata1 drive.

im thinking of buying it and adding it in my system.

i checked my motherboard and it has 2 sata ports.

1 is black saying Sata 1
the other is white and says Sata2

will i have any problems installing this drive?
will i need drivers before my system reconises the drive because i would like to install windows on the Sata drive and use my other 120Gb IDE drive just for storage.

Just go to the BIOS enable the SATA and set the computer to boot from the SATA Drive. And while installing windows on it make sure the other HDD is disabled because it will write the boot info on the master drive which is the IDE.

okay thanks,and after installing windos to the sata drive could i just plug back in my IDE drive and have that just for storage?

damn,he just tried the drive to make sure if it was still working and it makes a clicking noise and his computer wont pick it up lol

so i wont be buying it now

ohh well thanks for your help,might still get me a sata drive from elsewhere though
