OK, i need a new hard drive, mines a 120Gb IDE from an old dell... (its got my OS and files on it, meh). I was thinking of getting two sata drives and putting them on a raid, cuz from what I know, it makes then act as one. This is one peice of computers, however, that I do not know much about... First off, can I transfer OS and files to another drive (I've only got the dell recovery windows CD). Would I need a raid controller? Are there some motherboards that have built in raid controllers? My Mobo came with some strange sata wires, and my PSU has sata connectors, or at least thats wat I think they are. Do I want RAID 0, 1, 1/0, 1/0 +1, JBOD, etc? I have no idea, I just want 2/3, 7,200 RPM drives, maybe 160->200+Gb each, acting as one. Please help. Also, If I do need a raid control card, can I get one that will allow me to add more of the same HDD to the RAID? Im so confused and stupid when it comes to this section of PCs, I know nothing! Please help!
