sata speeds?

i am running a western digital 160gig sata 3.0g/s hard drive and i dont think it is running at that speed or anything close. when i test the drive it says that it is at 113.3 burst speed and 58.1 sustained speed. to me, that seems really low for a 3.0 sata drive. is there something i can change for this, or anything i can do at all? and it also says that the current transfer mode is set at 1.5g but i have no idea how to change that either. any help would be great.

As I've tried to tell people, drives aren't nearly as fast as current interfaces. Why else are some of the fastest drives(Western Digital Raptor's) still only running at SATA150 speeds... Those speeds you got sound about right.

Are you sure your motherboard supports SATAII, maybe it only supports SATA, anyways, this is what I get with a 7.200rpm, ATA133, 2MB cache.

It's built in Windows XP, btw I got ~55 in Sandra tests, and the score is nothing special, it's what I'm suppose to get.

I only get 35 MB/s with a 3rd party tool on my 60 GB 7200 RPM 2 MB cache, but it has custom accoustic settings.

XP Pro? My Home edition doesn't have it.

I have a SATA150 interface, but a SATAII drive. I got an average transfer rate of 62.4MB/s, and a max burst rate of around 105MB/s.

What program did you use to test that? I like to test mines:)

Do you think you could be any more vague about this topic...? I'm looking too and I can't find it.

Typcially, I use HDTach, It's a pretty good freeware program.

I use HD Tune (google it).

It tells you the Slowest/fastest/average transfer speeds, burst rate, and access time. As well as a few other things.

For slow what should the transfer rate be? and for the fastest what should it be?

filip-matijevic : I have nothing like that on my laptop. That's not default windows stuff... I'm quite sure that's an addition from nvidia.

I dont either. Filip is using an old version of windows. And The Other One are you a male or female? I cant even tell from your avatar. :o

Yea, I thought it was added by nVidia, it actually asks me when I'm installing chipset, I had to make sure though.

...show stopper, why do you think I have an older version of windows.
