SATA to IDE

I recently purchased a new computer because my old chip fried. I wanted to transfer over both of my DVD R/W drives and my old hard drive. Problem being my new computer only supports SATA data cables and does not have an ide slot. Is there any type of cable converter or any way to get around this? Or am I doomed to have 3 bulky external enclosures riding along for the time being?

If the new system has one IDE connection, usually for the DVD drive. So, you can buy a card/adapter but it's not really worth the money in my opinion. I sold one to a customer who demanded to use that card for his IDE drive because he didn't want a SATA drive. Too many problems when it came time to installing his OS.

Furthermore, having an external drive is a good source of backup. You're smart the way you are going until eventually you will get rid of the IDE altogether and stay with SATA. Ohhhh... on a final note, there are enclosures for S-ATA too... in case that option ever came up. But, in this case doesn't look like it.

yeah i agree the adapter isnt worth it. you maybe CAN connect the IDE one to your HDD and try to boot it from it. if theBIOS lets it
