SATA with Windows

Hi Guys,

Can anybody please offer some advice.

I am trying to install Winborg (Windows XP) on my newly built PC, but I get the error "Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer". I know this problem has been reported before, but I can't seem to get it to work.

I can install Windows XP (pre SP1) fine.

I understand that the problem is related to my SATA hard drive. I have copied the drivers (from the supplied CD) onto a Floppy and do the F6 thing during the Windows install, but installing these (when it does work) still produces the above error.

From what I can tell, all my BIOS settings look to be correct - SATA mode, Emulated PATA mode, and 32bit is enabled.

I only have one HD, so RAID is not needed.

Can anybody please point me in the right direction, cos it's driving me mad.

check if you can see the hdd in bios if not make sure all leads are in properly the hdd is sata2 does the mobo support sata 2 if not you will have to change the jumper on the back of you sata hdd then your mobo will see it

It is showing up when you start your copmuter in the bios?(the HD?) You shouldn't actually need any rivers just for a SATA drive. Also you can try eneabling RAID anyways, I have heard that sometimes it will fix the problem.
