Sata XP Partition

I have a quick question. I have a SATA and It is partitioned with XP on the local disk C and data on Local disk D:

I need to reinstall XP Pro. I will format Local C but do I have to repartition Local Disk D in order to install the SATA Drivers.

And once I am in windows, how can I determine if SATA was installed correctly.?
 
depending on the motherboard, you might or might not have to press F6 at the start of xp installation to install the sata drivers. You do not have to format the D partition. I just built 2 systems with the same motherboard. One install i had to press f6 to install sata drivers the other i didn't. Go figure....
