I know the difference in speeds (150 vs. 300), and here's the situation:
I am going to be video editing which is very hard drive intensive. I am thinking of two hard drives:
-Maxtor Maxline III 7L250S0 250GB Serial ATA 7200RPM Hard Drive w/16MB Buffer (app. $105 USD) http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=100718-6

-Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD2500KS 250GB Serial ATA II 7200RPM Hard Drive w/16MB Buffer (app. $115USD)

Is it worth the extra $10 for the Sata2? I am ordering in the next few hours, so PLEASE help!

I heard that as long as you have a mobo with sata you can put in a sata2 hard drive, how come when I search to by mobos the mobo says SATA up to 1.5GB, does that mobo support up to 3gb? and in some mobos they say SATA2. If a mobo that does not say SATA2 but says SATA up to 1.5GB can it still support a SATA2 hard drive?

yes but if the mobo doesnt have native sata2 support u will need to install drivers on set the drive to accept 3.0Gb transfer.

The SATA2 drive may be faster but thinking it will even come close to 1.5Gbps let alone 3Gbps is wishful thinking. When all is said and done you are probably better off with the WD than with the maxtor (I don't particularily like either company but I'd wager most people here would recommend the WD) and for $10 difference on other wise identicle drives really doesn't mean much.
