Scratched windows cd, a few files missing.

I built a fresh computer, but my windows xp pro cd is scratched on the label side, and when I try to install it, i get the message that it cannot find "x" file. There are hundreds of files during installation, but only about a dozen cannot be read. Can I get these files elsewhere or something? What can I do?
 
I scratched it, Ive had this cd for quite a while. I dont remember where it came from. It worked fine the first time I installed it.
 
that sucks, cause you probabyl could have returned it. The only help i can give you is try to use an old cd drive with a very low cd-read speed.
 
Only some time and also when windows is setting up the next time it says error as well but thats if you disk is rly messed up
 
idea, not sure if it will work tho!

perhaps you can try slipstreaming the disc! if your lucky, maybe the files you cant read were replaced with newer ones in SP1 or SP2!
 
well you can either
phone microsoft and explain to them what happened, you already have you valid cd key so they may be ok and send you a oem cd

You can use a freinds cd, as long as you use you cd key
