Screen Backlight?

I have a toshiba A70 notebook i have posted a few times already but i have built and re-built it but i still cant see the screen. If i catch it in the right light then i can see it but its far to hard to see. I was wondering if any of you knew what the cause of this could be. If laptops have backlights then mine is definetly broken. I made sure everything was connected properly and still i cant see the screen and it does not get brighter
 
it may just be like that, and yes laptops use back lights, CRTs use color guns...

PS this is suppoesd to be in the laptop section
 
It's very common for laptops to have backlight problems... Many times it's just a short in the wires, or perhaps a loose connection. However, there's also a inverter that could give out. Eh, I'm pretty sure that would only affect the backlight.
