Screen brightness issue

I have a Lenovo laptop, running Windows 10.

I can be working on the lap top which is plugged into the mains, when suddenly for some unapparent reason it fades into a duller brightness. I would expect that to happen if I run it on the batteries but not when plugged in.

Is there a problem with my laptop or is it a regular issue.

Many thanks

Either one of two things there.

1. Either your charging port is going bad and was no longer making connection when screen went darker
2. Some setting enabled that allows screen to dim after so long.

The next time it goes dark, check battery icon in system tray next to clock to verify if it shows its charging or not.

Do you have the option to "auto adjust screen brightness using webcam or sensor" or something similar. Some devices use a sensor to see the ambient brightness of the environment and then adjust the screen brightness to suit.

Some displays will have an eco mode that alters brightness based on the average brightness of the display's pixels (e.g a video on full screen of a dark room will go darker to save power)...
