screen brightness

Ever since I made all kinds of changes to my XP installation like .bootskins and stuff my screen power managment is messed up. Now when I plug my computer into a wall socket the screen gets darker when it used to and is supposed to get brighter. Why is this?

have you checked your power profiles thing (sorry if yours has a different name)? That's usually where that stuff is located, maybe they got changed

Whenever you're using a power mangagement utility, it'll memorize your last configuration. Such as, if you it was plugged in and you dimmed the screen and then unplug, it'll switch to something else. If you plug it back in, you'll get the last configuration you last had when plugged in.
