Screen Burn and Issue

Okay so I have an 21 inch dell flat panel monitor and first of all is it normal to get screen burn all the time? it seems like just about when anything (windows, gadgets, etc) sits in one spot for a long time it gets bruned into the screen. Eventually it goes away, so im not trippin about that too much, just wonderin if its normal to happen that frequently.

also at the top of my screen theirs like a strip where it is darker than the rest of the screen, kinda like a staine. does anyone know what thats about? and if my warrenty is cover by it? i have 3 years so im thinkin about sending it in

CRT, LCD, Plasma? They all have one form or another of burn-in (With Lcd's it's called image persistence) so I'm gonna guess it's normal.

The darker portion of you're screen could be caused by uneven backlighting if it's a LCD, i dunno if your warranty would cover it, but I suspect they won't..
