My newly buitl pc is having a wierd issue. I assembled a new pc just a week ago. Spec are:
- intel core i7 6th gen 6700 processor 3.4Ghz (not overclocked, never tried)
- Asus B150m plus motherboard (ddr4version)
- Kingston hyper x fury 16 gb ddr4 ram (8x2)
- Toshiba 2tb hdd
- Zotac Nvidia geforce gtx 960 4gb graphic card( not overclocked)
- dell 2015h monitor
- cooler master thunder 500w psu
- cooler master elite 311 cabinet

So the issue is... whenever i play graphic intensive games like gta 5 battlefield 4, COD black ops 3, COD AW... when i play games for about 2-3 min screen tuns black without anh warning( monitor behave like there is no input). Cpu is still on i can hear the sounds for a while and loop of the sound played at the moment of crash. Then after 5-10 sec. Sound stops then nothing works like alt+ctrl+del. The only way i can get the screen by force shutdown by keep pressing the power keh for a while... then start it again... i tried each and every soluyion on this website but nothing worked for me.... help me... m screwed...

Hello,

Do you get the same behavior when using the integrated graphics on the CPU? That'd rule out or isolate your GPU. You should be able to RMA if that is found to be the culprit.

Did you also set the XMP profile for your RAM in BIOS?

Yeah... games work fine on internal gpu.. though they are not playable due to lags...but black screen don not show up... and i didnt changerd anything in bios... its stock...

Which driver are you using? It sounds very GPU related if everything is OK when using another video adapter (such as the integrated one).

You should be able to return the card to the shop and get a replacement.

I was using the drivers from the cd provided with card... i think it was 362.11 verson... but yeaterday i downloaded new drivers from nvidia site. 368.39 ver. Still same thing...

Zotac recommends that card work fine with 400w psu. But i m using 500w. Some of experts suggested me to use more power psu. My ghraphic card use 250w max power. And cpu uses 95w max. R u sure psu is enough?

Did you use the standoffs between motherboard and case? Try building the motherboard outside of the case on a piece of cardboard and see if it reacts the same. The 960 really only requires about 430 watt psu, though your psu is a dual rail unit with 24 amps on 1 rail and 21 amps on the other it should be fine to power your system. If you upgrade your card, you should get a good single rail psu of at least 500 watts, depending on what card you get.

I m not using stand offs... and i will try building motherboard outside the case.. though my case is openable from both the sides. Thich i have tried earlier. This helps in ventilation. But still the same.. but i will trh ur method too... and i not upgrading my gpu atleast for year. :D its good for decent gaming and affordable too.. thanks for the advice and relieving my tention about psu. And do you know how to check forif the psu is faulty? I'll try the mobo outside tomorrow and come back to u.

I m not using stand offs
What case do you have? Not using any standoffs is not good unless the case has built in standoffs. These are called standoffs and help keep the motherboard from touching the case and grounding out.

I opened the case and had a look. Yes i m using these kind of bolts. And i mentioned it above. I m using cooler master elite 311 plus case

Sounds like a nvidia driver crash. Do you have a custom fan profile on it? The default ones are crap and don't spool up the fans until it's way too late and causes it to thermal throttle, and in your case crash the drivers.

I have used custom fan profiles.. i run them to full speed and then played games. Opened the side panels for air. But still same issue. Gpu temp. Remains between 80-90°c when i play games
