Screen goes black while playing movies and games

Hi,
I'm having an issue where my screen goes black any time there is a low-light scene in a game or movie. It isn't game specific, it happens across the board.
I have a custom built computer, a little over a month old. The monitor is an ASUS VS248 LCD monitor, video card is a Radeon XFX HD6870.
Probably a simple fix, but I'm pretty simple when it comes to this. Thank you in advance.

Have you recently updated your drivers to the Catalyst v12.x versions? I had problems (freezes, crashes, reboots) just viewing JPEG images in Windows Picture and Fax Viewer. I downgraded to v11.12 and the problems stopped.
 
I am pretty sure the power supply is good, Rosewill Lightnng series 800W continuous. Rolling back the driver seems to have worked for the moment. Thank you for the help.
 
If the problem persists, its probably the power supply. Rosewill's do not have a good reputation at all when it comes to power supplies.
