Screen lit but black on startup

I have an HP ZV5000 laptop. I recently sent it to be fixed because the a/c power jack wasn't working and the computer wasn't charging. After I received it back, you can see the light from the computer screen but other than that the screen is black when I startup the computer. You can hear all the normal noises that it makes when it is starting up but the screen is just black and stays that way. Nothing happens. However, like I said, the screen is lit. There is no text and no cursor on the screen, either. It is a blank black screen. Does anyone have any ideas what the problem could be? Thanks.

We actually work on dc power jack replacements and this problem happens all the time. If the people who replaced the power jack said that it was working fine after the repair then what happens during the shippment is the cable for the monitor gets loose. Now that is not the cable that goes from the screen into the motherboard, it is the cable that is inside of the monitor itself between the lcd screen itself and the lcd cover. That happens alot so it is really common to have a cable get loose in the back. There is 2 cables running from the motherboard to the monitor (1 side is your wireless cables, don't worry about these), the 2nd side is the monitor cables. Now once the monitor cables enter the monitor cover they split in 2, 1 of these goes for the FL inverter to power up the backligth bulb (so you can see the ligth) but no image because the second cable there that runs to the back of the screen got disconnected in shipping between the cover and the screen itself. you should be able to take the rear monitor cover off and see that the cable is actually loose there.
Thank you
