screen problem

My little cousin dropped my laptop and broke the screen. The screen is plain black and doesnt show a picture. The rest of the computper runs fine. When i tried to hookup a monitor to the laptop, windows will start to load on the window screen, then when that gets done it puts the computer to sleep. Any ideas on how i can hook up this monitor to the laptop? Im sure theres something easy i am missing here. Thanks for all you who respond!

can i just ask, how long you left that thread to be read before you rushed off. people dont live in the CF so i think that if you are patient, someone will come up with an answer to your solvable problem.

anyway, my initial idea is that something is wrong with the computer, something most likely got damaged when your cousin dropped it.

just wait for someone to help, if you have an attitude like that, then who do you think is going to seriously help you?
 
nope, most likely you have a motherboard issue with your computer that or a power issue which would still be part of the motherboard,
