Screen Resolution Issue

I have a 1 year old LCD 19 inch wide/flat screen monitor (HP w1907) connected too an 8 year old computer (Compaq Presario 5430US) with a replaced graphics card, but still an old one (Nvidia Geforce 4 ti 4600 replaced a Geforce 2 mx).

My question is when I use a resolution of 800 by 600 pixels certain web pages are too wide for my screen, & I have to use the scroll bar at the bottom to do my reading. When I set the resolution higher at 1024 by 768 pixels then everything fits on the screen, but its too small for reading IMO. How can I fix this issue?

What's the native resolution of the monitor? I though 19" monitor usually run 1280 X 1024? You could try upping the DPI so that texts displays larger.

1440 by 900 pixels at 60 Hz is the recommended setting, and thats as high as my resolution setting goes. I tried raisng the DPI setting it didn't help anything. The setting 1280 by 1024 isn't an option on my computer.
