Screenshot question.

This may be totally off the wall, but it can't hurt to ask.

Is there any way possible to tell what computer a picture originated from?

Example: My friend takes a screenshot of his desktop, posts it on the internet. I save this picture, is there any data in the screenshot that will give concrete proof that it came from a certain computer?

he could have a window open that shows his IP address, but really anything can be photo shopped, if he plays any online games just get a window of his character open

I dont think there is anything within the properties of the file that would tell you which computer it came from.

As Ducis said, the only way you could possibly tell is by the windows open in the screenshot.

No data in the picture will give you the computer it came from but the Exif data (if available) on a saved photo will show the camera make, all the settings used and the date and time.

Yeah, you can only have information about image, but not about computer where it is from.
