Screw Probelm

hey everyone. I am new here and just found this website, which is heaven already. I have a problem that i was wondering if anyone could help me out. I am trying to open up my compaq presario 2720 laptop. I have unscrew all the screws, but there is one screw that will not come out. When you unsrew it, it clicks again and again and something on the screw is broken. But i have no idea how to get it out. It is a laptop and i don't want to take plyers and rip at the computer, but i am running out of ideas! Any help would be greatly appreciated. I alos have one more question, is it possible for me to take the screen off the laptop and use it as an extra monitor for my destkop so i can extend my desktop onto the screen? Thanks everybody!

first and foremost i'd call compaq about it... if not, just try to gently pull it apart... my buddy has the same problem with his hp and it works for him...

as for using the screen as an external for a desktop... i've never heard that done so i'd have to say no... but you can hook up an external monitor to your laptop and use it as an external display...

they tend to use brass inserts in plastic for the screw fixings in notebooks. My guess is either that the brass insert is spinning in the plastic as you're trying to unscrew it or the thread has stripped because brass is a soft metal.
I would try and gently separate the two peices of the case you are trying to separate while unscrewing the screw.

i suppose the question about the screen is possible but you'd need to find a way to suitably connect the LCD cables to your graphics card; im sure that people have done it before and that there will be some guides going around that should help you.

try and unscrew it when its facing downwards, i recommend putting the screw thats the prob hanging off the edge of a table and unscrew.

bacsically try unscrewing it when the laptop is in its usual position, not turning it upside down.

also try a magnetic screw driver and pull it up before it clicks, if not, your stuck
