SCSI adapter and HD's

I am considering purchasing an adapter and HD that is SCSI, most likely used and for my OS. Is there anything else normally required with these, I have never tried to use the adapter and was wondering if everything can still work right, is there any bottleneck with the adapter, no point in getting a fast HD if it is going to slow down there. Just a thought and curiosity I may act upon.

Thanks in advance.

Don't take my post as a flame, just information. However, first of all, don't use SCSI. It's usually WAY more expensive than IDE or SATA because it's meant for medium to large business applications. Also, a $30 SCSI adapter card is probably going to be crap. The drives will be more expensive as well. Not that you're doing this, but a decent SCSI setup for a business runs in the thousands of dollars range.
