I have a HP Desktop..Athlon 3700 (which i dont think matters in this case)...windows media center edition...and it has card slots in the front..when i stick my sd card in there it doesnt do anything..i tried every which way...it works fine on my laptop though

there should be a drive that says, "removable disk" in My computer, if there is't Maybe your card reader isnt connected, you might need to check inside and see if your card reader is hooked up to the USB pins in the motherboard, because there is no or alert you see when you place any card in a reader, because windows sees those as drives, theres no little "blip" you hear when you put in a card

nah...i only got one card...well actually yes ive tried two cards...because I exchanged the first 2 gb for another one thinking the card was messed up but it was really my cell phone...so yeah i guess bad card reader...I have opened my pc up a few times (install graphics card, memory, etc...) and im not too familiar with hardware so i might have left it unplugged...ill open it back up when i get back to the dorms...anyone have a Screenshot or pic of what the cable looks like?

Don't test the same type of card... I mean a totally different card. Either way you probably will need another card reader. You could try formatting it in your PC first, but then it might not work in your other devices...
