Seagate External Won't Open - file or directory is corrupted

Hi Guys,

Looking for some urgent help.

I have a seagate external hard drive and this morning when i went to back up my files it came up and said

E:\ is not accessible.
The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable

I tried chkdsk repairs etc but it just closes after I do it, I tried going into disk management etc for repairs etc, then I tried using avast to scan the drive for a virus and it came up

Error: the file or directory is corrupted and unreadable (1392)

I have some really important photographs of weddings backed up on here, is there anyway I can get them back?

I hope someone can help me.

Thanks

When performing CHKDSK,you also need to use the correct parameters.Do this:

-open Command Prompt (CMD)
-then write:

chkdsk.exe E: /F /R /X /V

Press ENTER...

-when the CHKDSK process finishes, try accessing the E: drive.

NOTE: Be sure that the drive letter "E:" is the one you want to check.

Report back with the results!

Cheers!
