I got a Hard Drive with Windows XP on it.I add a completely blank second Hard Drive as sklave.Bios reconize my Hard Drive. The problem is i want to add windows XP on the second Hard Drive. And then put the Second Hard DRive intop a new Computer.

You could always copy all the data from the first hard drive onto the latter and then tailor the data from the second one until just XP remains (if all you want on the second drive is the OS). I don't know if XP has any failsafes against this, though, so it's kind of a blind suggestion, but it's somewhere to start (I'm still in the stone-age that is Windows 98. RAM management sucks, but utilization of processor power is undeniable).

In all honesty, I've never had a situation where I've had to copy all the data from a drive onto another, but I'd (and again, I've not done it, so anyone who knows of a problem with this solution, feel free to reveal it) boot in DOS mode, then type (assuming that the first drive is C and the second D) "copy C:\ D:\" minus the quotations. I'd wait for a second opinion on this before doing anything, because I've not done much of anything on an XP system, and I'm not entirely sure of that being a viable solution to begin with. Sorry I can't offer a definite answer, but it's somewhere to start looking.

1. Ok pop the installation CD in and set that second harddrive to be the destination drive for XP
2. When you reboot, you'll get a menu to pick which OS you want to boot from (trial and error) to get to the "new" OS ... and then open the boot.ini file (and remove one the other entry) ... the file is in the root folder :)

how do i set my second drive to be the xp destination?becuase i can't see my drive in "my computer".I can see it only in the bios and device manager

It's easy if you have the hard drive Image copier like Norton Image etc.

you can copy the image into the new drive and run it. just re-format your new drive for data purpose.

maxtor comes with a utility that can copy an entire drive. i remember doing when it came on floppy now they use a cd i think it's called maxplus or something. only comes with retail versions.
