ok, is there any reason why my cpu fan (80mm) soind up at around 2700rpm average, but my second system fan only spins at about 650!!

could this be why my pc runs a bit hot? how can i make it spin up faster?

thanks, sam

different fans, spin and different RPMs depending on there size. Usually the bigger the fan the slower it spins. I wouldnt try and change the RPM on the fan, just buy another one.

yepoo, have just bought a vantec tornado off ebay yesterday, it spins at 5700rpm so that should do the job!

is there anyway i can change the fans speeds though?

Yes, you can get a fan controller which just changes the current in the fans to control them. BTW, the Vantec Tornado is one of the noisest fans around, so you gotta put up with your computer sounding like a vaccum cleaner!

lol, i know i have heard that it is loud, 53db i believe, but it doesnt half shift the air, i will see how loud it is, if its un bareable and annoying, i will be back up for sale, can anyone else reccomend a good 8cm fan which can shift LOTS of air??

omg, just receieved the vantec tornado, and your right i did not think it would be this loud, but it is!!

very!!

it sounds like the exact replica of my mums dyson hoover! damn!

but, it sucks lots and lots of air, and spins at 5500rpm average, cpu now idles at 26 :D

but, i dont know if i can put up with the noise, is there any way i can turn doen the speed of the fan a bit to reduce the noise?~?

ok, so if i get a fan controller, i would be able to run this tornado fan slower, say 2500rpm, and it would be much quiter??

thanks, sam

yes, but it would move less air, you'll find that balance where you can tolerate the noise, and have it move enough air.
