Secondary hard drive not visible HP dv7

I have a HP Pavilion dv7 laptop with dual hard drive bays. I upgraded to a 500GB hard drive and made it my primary drive and placed my old original hard drive in the secondary bay. The the secondary hard drive does not show up in my computer. To check it I placed it back in the primary bay but when I turn on the computer I get the message "no bootable drive found" or something like that. So have I corrupted the old drive which was working before the upgrade? Do I need to reformat it and how would I do so? Thanks in advance.

It's possible you may have damaged the drive. I know on dells you can enable/disable extra drives, not sure if the newer Hp's are the same or not. However, with it not working when you put it back to the original spot, makes me wonder if the drive is shot now. Leave the hdd cover off and try booting up and feel the hdd to see if its spinning.

I ran the diagnostic from setup and it passed. So I assume from that it is working.

Update: I found the problem. It was unalocated in Disk Management. I had to formatt it. I lost all the data that was on it and I can't figure out why it became unalocated but that's what happen.
