Is there any benefit of enabling secure boot on custom built machines?

You have to disable secure boot if you want to boot to anything else besides the HDD. It's really a pain in the ass to have it enabled anyway.
The only "benefit" was to stop the system from getting infected by booting to infected media. I just think it wasn't well thought out.
