Security Notice From Verizon.

Following, is a portion of an advisory notice that one of my sisters just emailed to me:
.....................................

Dear Verizon Internet User:

As part of our ongoing enhancements to the online customer experience, Verizon continues to ensure security for our Internet customers.* As a result of this ongoing effort, Verizon Online is making modifications to the Internet access provided to you.* These modifications will occur on August 21, 2011.* For security reasons, Verizon will no longer allow users to FTP their HTML files to the personal web site Verizon offers.*

Verizon recommends that current FTP users download their files prior to August 21, 2011 to prevent any data loss.*
...............................

Verizon is the Internet service provider, for the both of us, and my sister thought that I might know how the notice might affect us. I didn't know how to answer that, which is why I came here. Neither of us has a website, and I don't know what FTP means. My guess would be something like File Transfer Protocol, but - even if that guess is correct - I don't know what it would mean for us.

If anyone else has received such a message, from Verizon, would you please spell it out for us?

Advanced thanks.

If you have a website with Verizon (which I'm assuming you don't) you will no longer be able to FTP, or in other words upload your website files to there server.

And nice guess on the meaning of FTP ;)

So, if you don't have a website with verizon, then nothing changes for you :)
