righto,
basically my old laptop, a dell inspiron 5160, died and i decided to get a new one
ended up with a sony vaio, and decided the best thing to do was to remove the hard rive from the dell, buy an external casing, and use it as a hard drive
so far so good, all working.. until i try and access files.
it tells me i have to update the security settings and all this, but ive gone through this twice and its starting to annoy me. ive gone into the drive (g:/), right click, properties, security, modify security settings and allow all tasks for everyone using the laptop.. but it tells me it cant apply to certain folders- which are the ones i need!
i really dont know what to do with this, my logon profile on this laptop has admin capabilities but it tells me i have to be admin to change certain settings...
its really annoying me at the moment, ive spent a lot of hours trying to fix this and im in serious trouble with it because i really have to get some stuff off the old drives- namely college files that for the most part arent backed up.
any help on this is much appreciated?
