security tower button?

Recently got a somewhat used pc thats fairly new and modded to the max (literally just about 2 grand worth in parts  ) that was simply missing the face of the tower (consisting of the power button etc) everything is still functional and intact inside but i do not get a display on my monitor (nothing wrong with monitor). There are 2 identical buttons in front, the one on top turns the computer on (fans, dvd drive, hd spins and all) but no display, the second underneath it lights up a yellow indicator light (guessing processor) right next to the green power indicator light. still no display.
According to my friend, ever since loosing the face of the tower he had to mess with the buttons for hours and even the power switch in the rear just to get a display, as if there was a sequence for it to activate my graphics card or display in general. certain combinations (obviously wrong) shut down the pc and reboot it in a few seconds i dont even get a boot screen or anything when i power up, its as if the pc is off according to the monitor . I know theres nothing wrong with the graphics card or drivers because i had personally used this pc before it lost the face of the tower.
my hypothesis is that its a security device blocking the display, i just dont know how to get around it. i need help big time! anyone have a clue what to do?

that seems kinda silly...honestly if you got the parts for free, you could transplant them into a new case with minimal effort, if the old tower is becoming a pain, i never heard of a security system that elaborate on a tower...a key maybe, thats about it...

Do you have any experience with assembling a computer yourself? If you don't have experience and feel uncomfortable it might be a good idea to pay someone to transplant all the components to a new case.

well that was my last resort, if i was going to swap it out id just buy a new case or use my old alienware case. the problem is getting the display to work and i know there is a security device installed because it even said it on a sticker in the case :/ plus all the parts are aftermarket and it would be a pain to find the proper drivers IF something were to go wrong with the hd because of the device. nevertheless you both hit it spot on with the case suggestion but i was hoping to find out if anyone knew of a security device that detects if the case is either opened and/or missing a piece and somehow disables the display. at least if i can identify the security device and where/what it controls i might be able to find a way around it, whether it be (hopefully) swapping out a case, or a power supply, or just hitting a sequence of buttons lol

sorry Sherlock (i watched him open the box when he got it a few months ago) its just missing a button that i need. it just so happens to have been purchased in a bundle that included the security feature... i just dont know what feature does that. hence the reason why i'd rather find an easy fix before resorting to swapping cases.
