Seemingly simple network problem..please help!

I have a basic home network with two computers running XP Home SP2. One is hardlined to the Linksys router and the other is wireless. I ran the wireless network setup wizard to setup the network. Both computers are visible in the "View workgroup computers" box.

The problem is, the computer that is hardlined cannot connect to the computer that is wireless (says Access is Denied), but the wireless computer CAN connect to the hardlined computer. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Try reinstalling File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks on the computer you can't access.
And make sure file sharing is enabled, Test it by sharing any folder.

How do I reinstall Printer and File sharing?

Method 1
Go to
Control Panel then
Network Connection and locate your
LOCAL AREA CONNECTION
right-click it-->properties
from the tick boxes you'll have the choice of what to install or not

Method 2
Go to Control Panel and
Add / Remove programs and go to the
ADD/REMOVE windows components and scroll down until you see
other network file and print services

cna you ping the other computer?

by going to start>run>cmd>
at the prompt type "ping" space IPAddress of the other computer.

(you can find the ip address of your computer by typing in ipconfig at the same prompt)

let us know how you get on

Thanks for the replies.

I tried pretty much everything you guys suggested. Heres the results. I pinged the computer and yes it responds normally.

I tried reinstalling File Sharing with no luck. All I got was some NetWare program installed.

I am almost positive file sharing is on as multiple folders are shared and it says Windows Firewall is configured to allow the folders to be shared.

And I tried setting up the network through the small home or office wizard with no luck. I ran the wizard on each computer separately though because neither has a disk drive (the wizard asks to insert a disk to set up the network on other computers).

Any other suggestions?
