Sell an old CPU or keep it for parts?

I have a sony PC that is not that old. It cost me about $1000 just for the computer about 2 years ago.

I just bought a bunch of parts to build my new gaming rig.

I would like to take the optical drives and the hard drive out of my old PC and put them in my new one. Is there any compatibility issues that I should be concerned about moving that stuff from a Sony to a home made machine?
 
i'd sell the parts. in fact, one time i just did instead of selling the computer a a whoe. its amazing what price people will pay for old, outdated perts on the bay ;)
