I recently build a low-budget gaming computer, and I've been having some minor problems that don't piss me off enough to spend hours and hours or lots of money to fix, but they annoy me enough to see what is wrong and if I can fix it easily.
First off, here are the specs:
Case: CoolerMaster ATX Mid Tower Case
MoBo: GIGABYTE AM2 NVIDIA nForce 570 SLI ATX AMD
CPU: AMD Athalon 64 X2 5600+ 2.8 GHz
GFX: EVGA GeForce 8600GTS 256MB SLI GFX
RAM: CORSAIR 2GB DDR2 SDRAM 800
HD: Western Digital 250GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s
PSU:Corsair 520W SLI ATX
The problem is that every once in a while when I am running three or four programs (such as Firefox with a few tabs, xFire, vent, and some background programs) my computer will completly freeze. The mouse doesn't move, no programs load, even my G15 Logitech keyboard's LCD screen freezes. I am caused to restart by hitting my reset button, and then I usually do fine for a while. This only happens about once a week, but happens when I'm running minimal processes and when I'm running games and higher RAM consuming programs I never crash. These programs shouldn't slow down the 2 GB of RAM or the Dual core processor, so I believe it has something to do with either cooling or that I have something hooked up wrong. I have 2 APEVIA fans (120mm back and 80mm front) running, and in PC Wizard 2007 it says my processor temp is 26C, (which I don't know if it is hot.)
Any idea what could be causing this?
