Separate User Accounts Xp Pro Sp1+2?

greetings,

i did this once before with windows xp pro w/o sp1+2 but, having trouble doing it again.

i have an older compac desktop that if i remember correctly, i had win 98se installed and i merely loaded the full version xp pro as above. i have set up 2 user accounts with 1 being the administrator and 1 being an additional "named" user with another being an unused "guest account".

i wanted to set this up so-as that the ADMIN CAN SEE the other user's files/folders/etc but, that the other user CANNOT see/view the admin's files/folders/etc.

i have looked around this for a few hours and cannot figure out how i did it when i set up a different computer with a fresh install. can anyone help me out here and tell me what to do?.....thanks again!

I know that when you switch an account form limited to Admin, it will ask you if you want to do that.

edit: go to Documents and settings, then right click on your user acount, click on the sharing tab, check "make this folder private.

thanks for the reply..

i know how to switch from one account to another . i also have the 2nd user account in a limited mode however, when i go to that acccount i can still maneuver into the admins account folders and view where i should not be able to do this.....

go to control panel>user accounts, create a new account and set your user to have limited control

...thanks for the reply. i have done that and still, when i go into the "2nd" user account, that account can "see" the files in the admin account which is what i don't want. i have successfully done this with xp pro w/o a problem but, am unable to do this with xp pro with sp1+2. i don't think there is a "real" difference in the program with or w/o sp 1+2 and without.

the 2nd user account has almost the same "rights" as the admin account but is somewhat limited. the "guest" account is extremely limited but, i cannot use that account in this application as i am giving away this computer to a family that is destitute and may have the need to install a program or two. in the guest account, that is not possible.
