Serial Port Curiosities

My main curiosity is if you can connect ram to a computer through the serial port, and if so how one would go about doing that.

My three secondary curiosities of this post are as follow:

1: What hardware can be connected through the serial port.

2: Any neat/cool/widely unknown things about/to do with serial or other ports

3: What can be connected through other lesser used ports on the computer

lol, with a typical interface of 9600 baud, you wouldn't want to.

1) Mainly management interfaces of devices like enterprise grade routers/switches/firewalls or console for other systems

2) Not really, they're pretty slow.

3) What would you define as 'lesser used ports'? It's entirely usage based. Example, I use serial ports and adapters a LOT since I do networking professionally.
