Serious Computer Issue

Ok so I got on my computer this morning and got the following message whenever I tried to open any program (Windows Explorer, Firefox, Microsoft Word etc): "The file does not have a program associated with it Create an association in the Set Associations Control Panel" Now none of my programs would start, just this message would come up. (I am posting this question from a laptop.) What could have caused this and What can I do to fix this problem? I really dont want to have to go through some long process that theis message is asking me to do for every single program I wish to use.
This is really starting to worry me. I cant even open Norton 360 and I cant download Malwarebytes. It isnt letting me do anything
It isnt letting me download anything so I cant access malwarebytes and I am unable to access the internet whenever I go into Safe mode with networking

Have you tried doing a system restore? Does anything work in safe mode? Try running combofix, download it to a flash drive if you have one.

Download and Run ComboFix
If you already have Combofix, please delete this copy and download it again as it's being updated regularly.
Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall

Combofix should never take more that 20 minutes including the reboot if malware is detected.
If it does, open Task Manager then Processes tab (press ctrl, alt and del at the same time) and end any processes of findstr, find, sed or swreg, then combofix should continue.
If that happened we want to know, and also what process you had to end.

In your next reply please post:
  • The ComboFix log
  • A fresh HiJackThis log
  • An update on how your computer is running
