Server Build Opinion.

Looking to build a rack mountable server ( my first one).
I was looking at the following components and just wanted your opinions and whether you thought it would be good enough for what I'm looking to get from it.

COMPONENTS
-AMD FX-6100 6 Core 3.30GHz
-X-Case 1u active cooler for AM3+
-Gigabyte GA-78LMT
-8GB DDR3 1333MHZ RAM
-1TB Seagate 7200RPN HDD
- Seasonic SS-250SU 250W PSU
-X-Case RM 100S Chasis

I will be running Windows Server 2008 R2.
Im looking to be hosting a Minecraft server (If not multiple ones), file server and a Plex movie server capable of streaming 1080p and the odd 3D movie.

IMHO, it's cheaper to buy a used real server.
For less than you will spend on that I got a used HP with dual quads, 8 gig ram, 5 - 146 gig sas hdd's running in raid, dual lan ports, dual 1000 watt power supplies plus a remote card with the rack slides.

BTW, that Gigabyte GA-78LMT doesn't overclock all that well.
I have one and blew up another.

I agree with MyCattMaxx.

But I do not have intentions of stealing this thread, this is somewhat related. I've had the same intentions of building or buying a server. Whatever the case, where would I/we be able to purchase a cabinet for a decent price? Craigslist is kind of limited.

eBay is a good place to look. Another place I found was a gov't wholesale bidding site. Search for server under computers. Most of it is pickup only though and not every state is included.

I've seen that website before. My uncle bought a garbage truck off of that website for his old business.

Minor problem with ebay though. aren't those cabinets built with weights at the bottom and not exactly ship-able?

Everything is shippable :D

Were you planning on co-locating this server, or hosting it at home. If the latter, I hope you have a really good connection...
