set affinity for quad core in vista

hey guys,
I recently upgraded from a pentium d to a quad core, making sure that my motherboard does support the new cpu.

Now when i go to task manager - processes - rightclick-set affinity....it does not show the 4 cores, it only shows 2 like it did for my pentium d.

i then went to Control Panel\Performance Information and Tools...and i updated the new hardware.

I still cannot see the quad core, even though my system tells me i have a quad core

any clues for a hotfix or something?

The only thing I can think of is maybe it only shows two because an Intel quad core is just two dual cores on one chip...but maybe I'm wrong.

Go to the performance tab in task manager and tell me how many graphs it shows.
