Hello,
I forget my bios password and i need to set the bios date/timeso the only solution is to set time from windows please tell me if there is a third party software to set cmos time from Window, thanks

if you open your computer up and remove the battery inside for longer than 30 seconds it will clear the cmos memory and hence clear the password.

if you dont want to do this (it is very simple btw) then if you give me the make of your motherboard you may be able to use a backdoor password, which is like a master key i suppose

it is not a desktop computer it is a toshiba laptop " Toshiba Satellite L40-17U SN : PSL48E-...
even after bios update from toshiba i still have the same probleme because they save password in a separated EEPROM chip then even i clear cmos icant clear the passwor. any way i only want to set the CMOS time and date at last. help please !!

i dnot think it is possibe for windows to make adjustments to bios settings you can try this tho

from what i read toshiba makes its own bios, if you can confirm this by starting your computer and it should say what kind of bios it has, for example mine says award bios
then check this list for backdoor passwords

http://www.uktsupport.co.uk/reference/biosp.htm

and use the correct one when asked for the password in the bios

note: toshiba backdoor password is actually toshiba

if no luck please try

http://www.freewarefiles.com/CmosPwd_program_17975.html

this is a small free program that should decrypt the password and allow you full access but im not sure if it will work because of the way the password is stored

im still confused........
if ya had the battery out the password should be admin.
What i would do. take the battery out. leave it off. the default is admin or should be. then again if its losing time i would replace the battery. how old is the laptop? battery is only good for about 5 yrs max. thats the 1st indication if losing time.

as the op said the password is stored in a EEPROM chip meaning that the password should remain even if you remove the cmos battery

How to reset a Laptop password

I finally found a solution to reset the CMOS password and remove the password from the eeprom

1-Turn off the computer
2-open memory cover and remove memory modules
3-short JRST1 for 30 Sec "JRST1 will be under memory modules or in some place behind"
4-restore your memory module and open your computer wait a second and press the bios button " F1, F2, DEL......" depands in computer

Hope that this will help every one that forget his bios password.
