Set-UP Help

This is the set up im looking to get well part of it-
Asus K8V-X
AMD (Winchester) Athlon 64bit 3000+
XFX GeForce FX5200 256MB DDR
512 DDR Ram

Can anyone tell me how well will it run games like the Sims 2 etc?

Any help would be great

Nice system, it looks like the graphics card is a little underpowering for the system as a whole however. It would have no problems running games like the Sims 2 at all.
 
You're prolly best off with something like a MSI Neo Platinum (nforcrr3-250) to make the most of the cpu/mobo .. again what he said about the VC
 
If your planning to spend the exta money on the 256 mb version of the 5200 you might as well just upgrade to a video card that was meant to play games with like the 5500 or 5700 ultra. Not that the Sims2 is graphically intensive or anything, but if your buying an AMD 64 bit, it doesnt hurt so that you will be able to stretch the legs on that beast. Within your pricing range, you should be able to find a 128 mb 5500 or 5700 card.

Well the 5500 wont really be much of a gaming card. Same goes for the 5600 and 5700LE. The 5600Ultra and 5700, 5700Ultra are much more suited for gaming :)
 
It'll run Sims 2 just fine. I run Sims 2 on what you see in my sig and it runs fine.

It'll run the game fine ... but at what settings... dont forget Sims2 is a DirectX9 game here and typically "run fine" entails at least running it in DirectX9 mode (which is kind of a catch22... cuz nV30 is not really a DX9 route heehee)
