hey, I have a 9600 pro graphics card with dual heads (VGA and DVI) and have a monitor running of each head..a.k.a dual monitors. What i want to know is how can i customize the second monitor? For example give it a seperate wallpaper and is it possible to strach the star menu across os minimized stuff on the second monitor stays there..not in my main monitor one?!
Thanks

Dual monitors are mainly for extending the desktop as well as(in some cases) cloning one desktop onto the second monitor. Both monitors will display from the current desktop regardless of being extended or cloned. To configure a second monitor to display a second desktop you would need to be able to open two different user accounts onto an extended desktop which would most likely fail. The second Start menu would be seen on a cloned desktop only.

Ok then, how do I go about cloning a desktop? And with this can I have seperate aplications open on each or is it an exact replica?

As you will see going through the links here Windows 98 and higher supports the use of more then one video card for displays on different monitors. One of the above offers a cloning software for duplicating your desktop on multiple displays. You will still have to Google around to locate any specialized application for customizing multiple displays since this is both a hardware as well as software configuration task. ATI's Catalyst Control Center on their line of Radeon series cards offers support for multi monitors by extending the desktop by way of software.
