Since my hard drive went out i've acquire a new one ,am trying to setup windows Xp but apparently the setup freezes at
"press f6 if you need to install a third party Scsi driver"..and what not.
this is really pissing me off, the cd seems ok (or so i think) cause it worked flawlessly in another pc.
what can cause this ?

BUMP ? none of my cd's seems to work and sometimes some end up with a blank black screen, am really confused as to what component is doing such

Have you tried to replug your IDE or Sata cable and power cable, since you replaced the harddrive you could have bumped one slightly loose. Try resetting your bios unless you have changed a bunch of stuff and dont want to reset everything. If all else fails try using a different DVD or CD drive. I had the same thing happen with a Lite On DVD-ROM, thing worked fine. Went to reinstall the OS and could not get a CD or DVD to boot with it, take that back it would boot one time out of 5 but just lost the drive on the first reboot. Never found out what was wrong with the drive. The weird thing is if you install the drive on a already working OS it works fine. Tried the drive on 2 or 3 different computers with the same results.

Did you go from an IDE Drive to SATA?
No, my drive that burn out was a Sata, now im setting up on an IDE
clean the disc if that does not work do u have another disc if so try that 1.
Wow, you thought of that all by yourself? Well arnt you just the smartest 14 year old around?
Something tells me he would have already ensured his disc is clean
lol,that got me laughing

unplug cables = YES
Reset BIOS = NOT YET , will see to that
and to think my external Lenovo dvd drive was with me at that time i didn't even try with it....lol :(
i will update this thread as soon as i'm done with the above

EDIT : still not working after resetting BIOS, be if Fail-safe or optimized defaults.i also tried removing the c-mos battery but nada.
i tried booting via my usb writer but still i didn't want to work
scares me to think this is a new mobo and am getting more problems with it than i did with my gigabyte one.
any ideas CF ?

as crazy as this sounds, i did some inspection on the socket where the processor is seated, and OMG, some of my pins were out of shape, thing is i can't touch em.. they so small, have to get someone to do this for me. god damn this was not the time

Bummer man. Was it running before replacing what you thought was the drive. Hope it wasnt the board and not the drive to start with.

yeah it was running, but since the Sata screwed up, it hasn't boot, i mean it freezes at that screen i mentioned. i just bought another 160gb today (samsung, yes Sata again) and i've setup, so far everything seems ok
