WIndows 10 Several Keys A E & C not working sometimes. Possible malware or virus?

Today, I noticed several keys (A, E, C) were not working. I attempted several fixes outlined in the videos below. Also, I tried doing a light reboot of windows & I tried restoring to an earlier point but my computer does not show any. Keys dont appear to be mechanically effected. The strange thing is that seems to work as soon as the computer starts for a few seconds, then as other things have loaded it stops working. I can also get them to type temporarily after I run my hands randomly over entire keyboard from left to right, kind of like running your hand across of piano from left to right.

The videos show what Ive done, including updating/uninstalling keyboard driver, running text services framework and restarting

Anyone with a similar experience?

Can you boot to a live cd of linux or something to get an environment outside of windows? What about a different keyboard?

its a laptop but I thought about using a remote desktop, to bypass keyboard. Haven't done yet. I suspect software. I did read somewhere that keystroke tracking software can cause these type of problems, but have not caught anything with virus scans

An external USB keyboard is able to type with keys A C & E all working. With the keyboard plugged in, if I press on the keys of the laptop, the A C & E keys don't work.

Does this suggest a hardware issue or a software issue related to the driver of the integrated keyboard? I find it difficult to believe that all of a sudden three keys aren't working and that it is a hardware issue?

That's why you need to boot to a live CD to test. If the laptop has no CD drive then you'll need to put something on a USB flash drive and boot to it.

It's possible the ribbon cable just got loose and needs reseated, if not just damaged keyboard.

I'd be inclined to think this is a hardware issue if an external KB is fine.
