Sharing a broadband connection -- What do I need?

I simply want to share a cable connection. I would like to go wireless. I have found a wireless router but I want to know what else I need. I found ethernet cards with the antenna coming out and I've found USB adapters. Are they the same? Is there anything else I need?

Basically, I need sort of a hardware list.

Thanks in advance.

u want to go wireless or you want to go broadband or both? you need a wireless router if you want to go wireless you can still use wired connection with the wireless router.

No, I already have the cable connection on one computer, I want to share it with my computer in the other room.

Again, I would just like a hardware list and some pointers. Also, the other computer does not have an ethernet card of any type, which is why I was asking what I need to receive the connection from the wireless router.

Thanks, however.

the router will do a job but you might need to reset or reconfigure again once you added a wireless connection if it is disabled.

For extended range:

PCI cards: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=33-124-156&depa=0

Optional: I chose not to get a cable modem from Comcast, instead got a Linksys cable modem (So everything would be Linksys :) )

BTW ... have all of that and it works great. Had problems setting up the wireless router from Microsoft.

Thank you very much. That was just what I was looking for.

One more Q though:
Is this a plug-and-play situation or will I need to run any wizards?

I have broadband and i'll tell you what I have:

DSL Modem
Belkin Wireless Broadband Router
Belkin Wireless Network Card

It says that its recommended to have one computer hooked up to the router using a wired connection. If you have 2 computers (like I do) then have the computer nearest the cable modem and router hooked up wired. Then install the wireless card in your computer and make sure your router you buy is wireless and is a broadband router.

Hi all, just getting used to all this wireless jargon.

I myself am looking at putting in a wireless router, this is my situation.

I have a desktop running Win2000 and a notebook running WinXP. My cable modem is next to my desktop wired with a USB cable.

What I want to do is have a wireless router to allow me to connect to the cable modem with my Laptop.

What do I need? I don't have any network cards or anything in my desktop.

Can I do the following?
Buy a router, connect the modem via USB to the routher, connect my desktop via USB to the router, and then configure my laptop to access the router wirelessly?

Thanks,
