Sharing Files/access remotley

Is it possible to do this and if yes..how??

I have Cable modem, running XP Pro

1) Can I share a folder that people can access is remotly? I want to set it up so that only people that I share login name and password can access that folder?

2) I want to set up my computer so that I can access it remotly without downloading VPN? I think XP has a capability do that..I just don't know how. I thing I am confused about is how can I connect to my computer remotely...how do I set up my login name and passwd?

any help would be appreciated.

For file sharing you could use XPs build-in FTP server. But it isn't the best solution, since it can't resume broken down/uploads. So try filezilla server: http://filezilla.sourceforge.net/

about the first ans..there is no way to get access to the folder w/c FTP??

You could also try using a VNC program.
